Mrs. Abigail (Abby) Dixon graduated summa cum laude from Grove City College with a double major in English and economics. She taught for five years at Veritas, where she saw classical Christian education in action. After teaching in the classroom, Abby spent time as a stay-at-home mom. She tutored writing for homeschooled high school students, led crafts at MOPS, and eventually homeschooled her own children for four years. She has four daughters and is excited for the oldest three to attend Hunter this year. Abby loves teaching with a curriculum that weaves together great works of literature with history, art, music, and the Word of God, and she is a big believer in the power of a student's imagination and ability to memorize. She loves the classical emphasis on truth, goodness, and beauty, and looks forward to watching her students grow in their love and appreciation for these things. Ms. Dixon loves seeing her students connect the things they are learning with the unchangeable truth of God's character and His design for the world and for their lives. One of her favorite teaching moments happened during science class, as she was explaining the circulatory system, and a student marveled aloud, "God is awesome!" Abby loves to be organized, although having little ones at home stretches the meaning of that word. She and her husband value time with family and friends. One of these days Abby hopes to have time for more reading, strategy board games, ballroom dancing, traveling, and hiking. In the meantime, she looks forward to becoming a better teacher and learning alongside the wonderful faculty at Hunter.
