Jeff Brown earned his Bachelor of Science in English from the United States Naval Academy and Master of Arts in English from Middlebury College and Oxford University. A former naval aviator, Jeff amassed over 1,500 hours in flying tactical jets and helicopters. Following his Naval service, Jeff gained extensive teaching and senior administrative experience as Administrative Master & English Master at the Woodberry Forest School in central Virginia, one of America’s top boarding schools, and as the Head of the Upper School at St. Anne’s Belfield School in Charlottesville.

Over the years, Jeff also gained valuable experience working in various federal and state government roles, including two separate stints working under the Office of the Governor of Virginia, as well as various positions at the Federal Executive Institute, Virginia Department of Labor and Virginia Employment Commission.  These roles were all centered around education, workforce, and professional development.

Mr. Brown served on Hunter’s Board of Directors from 2016 to 2019, the majority of that time in the role of Board Chair. He has long been an avid supporter of classical Christian education and Hunter’s mission of challenging the mind, nourishing the spirit, and developing the whole child. Jeff has vast institutional knowledge and independent school experience. He is deeply committed to Hunter’s mission and values and looks forward to using his expertise to help the school continue to grow in size and in service to our community.
